Bjorn L Bjorholm - European-Bonsai-San-Show 2019

Bjorn L Bjorholm, owner of Eisei-en, is a bonsai artist and instructor who spent six years as an apprentice under Master Keiichi Fujikawa at Kouka-en bonsai nursery in Osaka, Japan before receiving certification as a bonsai professional by the Nippon Bonsai Association. His tenure as an apprentice at Kouka-en was followed by three years as artist-in-residence at the same location, making him the first foreign-born working bonsai professional in Japan. During his time in Japan, Bjorn's works were featured in the Kokufu-ten, Sakufu-ten, and Taikan-ten exhibitions, among many others.

In addition to his work in Japan, Bjorn travels the world, from Europe to Asia to Latin America, teaching bonsai art and providing services to private clients and international organizations. He operates intensive bonsai schools with affiliate nurseries in Spain and the United States, while also working with international bonsai organizations.

JAN CULEK

JAN CULEK - European-Bonsai-San-Show 2019

Jan Culek

1985

Started with bonsai in early age of 10 years, when found a first bonsai book in grandma´s  library.

During the time he graduated his study in 2010 (history of art, painting and drawing, art pedagogy) started to be more and more focused into bonsai. Thanks to Václav Novák who became to be his first mentor, Jan started to intensively work on the bonsai techniques and experimented with his own trees as well as tried to find any chance to be in contact with trees and bonsai of all kinds.

From that moment he also started to experiment in a field of man made stones and slabs which gradually lead to evolved high quality products with unique character and esthetic.

In spring 2016, he established the brand Jan Culek Bonsai and started to work as a full time bonsai artist and producer of stones and slabs together with his partner Martina.

Jan´s bonsi works or rather "tree design" would be characterized as a mixture of the theoretical knowledge about esthetic principles and art as well as the focus of  hardcore practical and technical approach which should be well executed in every newly worked tree or stone.
